The De Montfort Suite is a project within a project. Formerly the Council Chamber within Bethnal Green’s Town Hall, the dilapidated space was carefully restored to provide a spectacular signature suite within our refurbishment of the Town Hall Hotel.

The council chamber had fallen into significant disrepair but our brief was to create a very special hotel suite; an asset which could host VIPs, weddings, private parties and photo shoots, and in turn become an additional revenue-generating asset for the new hotel. The De Montfort Suite comprises a bedroom, bathrooms, sitting area, study and private dining for up to 20 people, with a state-of-the-art kitchen.

The triple height space is flooded with natural light and features arched windows and stained-glass details. We maximised the extraordinary dimensions of the space by inserting glazed partitioning elements, to create flexibility without visual obstruction.

Bespoke joinery is used to define beds, desks and storage space, and to conceal services and equipment, complementing the historic building with warm, tactile materials.
