Webinar: The differences between the French and UK planning systems

What are the differences between the planning systems in France and the UK? Whether you are an architect or developer, this talk will show you how to approach these different planning systems, and explain how they lead to the type of architecture and built environment we have today.

As an architect working in both countries for over 15 years, I cover the main principles, processes, and outcomes of both planning systems, as well as discussing why practicing in both can sometimes be so different.

Here are some of the topics covered in this talk:

  • Who are the people involved in the process, are there differences?

  • Understand how developers approach a project in France and the UK, what risks are they exposing themselves to.

  • How architects initiate a design for a project in France and the UK.

  • The timeframes and costs implied by both systems.

  • How the planning regulations set-out different outcomes of the built environment.

This is a talk aimed at developers, architects, and anyone who has an interest in the planning system.

That was an excellent and extremely educational webinar - thank you so much! - Charlotte Bowen, VU CITY
