The Brick House Extension

A contemporary approach to brick extends a family house in a Conservation Area

Architecture

Vincennes, France

Area: 80m2

Set in the heart of a Conservation Area, along a beautiful forest on the outskirts of Paris, this compact extension houses 3 functions – parking, kitchen & dining area as well as a creative studio for the owner. The strong features of the original house are extended in the design of this jewel-like shape in a play with formal and material continuity. Carved by local regulations, the shape is articulated through the use of a single material – brick -to generate all surfaces.
