NAME a Memory
I've been making little tents ever since I was a young girl. It began at home using umbrellas, bedsheets, and pillows, then in my society garden with my friends. Each year the tent got bigger and more beautiful - and with it developed my interest in designing buildings.
NAME a City
Pune. In this city, I spent the first 18 years of my life. The architecture of this city is the amalgation of various cultures and styles. It is said to be the ‘cultural capital’ of Maharashtra.
NAME a Quote?
”The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”
– Paulo Coelho, Veronika Decides To Die.
Veronika Decides To Die is one of Coelho’s best books and one of my all-time favorites.
NAME a Building
Bharat Bhavan. This cultural centre in central India is designed by Charles Correa. On the outside it is a simple structure sloping towards a spectacular lake-view. But inside it is an amorphous juxtaposition of courtyards, split-level exhibition spaces, galleries, etc. It has a wonderful creative energy, and it is my go-to place when I’m yearning for some inspiration.
NAME a Material
Corten Steel. It is a steel with a rusty appearance that changes with time and has very aesthetic qualities and is being increasingly used in design.
